Beyond Beats and Rhymes – January 2008
In January 2008 the Lilith Project partnered with American Hip Hop star-turned gender activist Byron Hurt, to showcase a screening of his film Beyond Beats and Rhymes. The event, which took place at the British Film Institute in London, aimed to challenge misogynist behaviour in Hip Hop and educate young people about gender stereotyping and violence against women.
Almost 100 people came to see the film and debate the issues with Byron Hurt and other panellists afterwards.
