The Home Office is the Government department responsible for internal affairs in England and Wales. Departments:
- Criminal Justice, including Victims of crime and Crime Reduction
- Community and Race, including Race Equality, Forced Marriages, The Race Relations Act and Human Rights
- Immigration including Asylum in the UK
The Metropolitan Police Force
The Metropolitan Police Service is the largest of the police forces that operate in Greater London.

The basic street-level policing of London is carried out by 33 Borough Operational Command Units (BOCUs), which operate to the same boundaries as the 32 London borough councils apart from one BOCU which is dedicated to Heathrow Airport.
